Background

The Task Force for International Cooperation on Holocaust Education, Remembrance and Research (ITF) currently has 27 member countries. It consists of more than 300 delegates, representing governments as well as non-governmental organizations. Twice a year, these delegates come together for the ITF Plenary Session. The ITF also hosts several intersessional meetings throughout the year.

The purpose of the ITF is to place political and social leaders' support behind the need for Holocaust education, remembrance and research both nationally and internationally. To this end, the ITF diplomats and experts formulate policies and recommendations on political, educational, academic and remembrance issues related to the Holocaust. The ITF also reviews and funds multilateral projects that seek to promote Holocaust education, remembrance and research.

Headed by the Executive Secretary and composed of three staff members and an intern, the Secretariat coordinates the ITF's activities. It provides support and advice to the ITF Chair, assists with the organization of the bi-annual Plenary and other ITF meetings, represents the ITF at international meetings, processes project proposals and facilitates the flow of information among ITF delegates and vis-à-vis external interlocutors. The Secretariat is also responsible for the ITF website and hosts the ITF's institutional archive.
