The Task Force for International Cooperation in Holocaust Education, Remembrance and Research (ITF) met for its biannual Plenary meeting, the first under the Israeli chairmanship, from 14-17 June 2010. Over 200 delegates attended representing 35 countries and 114 NGOs and intergovernmental organizations and government institutions in the ITF's 4 Working Groups.The ITF's new Standing Committee on Antisemitism and Holocaust Denial met for the first time and presentations were given on current projects in Holocaust remembrance by the delegations of Belgium, Latvia and United Kingdom, as well as by the Council of Europe and the European Shoah Legacy Institute.
In the days leading up to the Plenary, Yad Vashem hosted its Seventh International Conference on Holocaust Education, and on 16 June the Israeli chairmanship organized an academic symposium including two panels of lecturers. Panel 1, entitled ""Israeli Historians Looking Outside", included sessions with Dr. Havi Dreifuss (Tel Aviv University) and Dr. Dana Arieli-Horowitz (Bezalel Academy of Art and Design). Panel 2, entitled ""Israeli Historians Looking Inside" showcased Dr. Haim Saadon (Open University and Ben-Zvi Institute) as well as internationally renown Holocaust scholars Prof. Dina Porat (Tel Aviv University) and Prof. Yehuda Bauer (Yad Vashem). The current ITF Chair, Dan Tichon, also announced the launch of the Chair's Project for 2010, which includes the establishment of an international training team for Holocaust education as well as a long-distance online learning component to be hosted on the ITF website.
